14th October 2011 was a very sad day. My good friend Ray Swansbury passed away after a long battle with cancer.
We go back a long way as we played our first games together for the Ryhope Junior
School team back in the early 1950's. In 1963 we helped form and play for Ryhope
YC, now Sunderland RCA, in the Seaham & District League. He was a tremendous goalkeeper
and, more importantly, a great family man and friend. He will be sadly missed.
